The MIND Headache & Facial Pain Center team leader is Dr. Lauren Aymen, DO, who attended a post-graduate fellowship in Headache and Neuropathic Pain at the University of Michigan Headache and Neuropathic Plain Clinic in Ann Arbor.

Headache & Facial Pain Center

Although presentations of headache and facial pain may vary, pain and other symptoms should not be neglected. They can indicate underlying disease processes or, on their own, progress and result in significant pain, discomfort and diminished function.

Categories of headache and facial pain include Migraine, Cluster and Tension headaches; Trigeminal Neuralgia and other facial pain syndromes; and secondary headache disorders, including from trauma, infection, dental pain or other disease processes.

Diagnosis and our approach to treatment.

The multiple possible causes of headaches and facial pain, along with the complexity of the vessels, nerve connections and overall anatomy in the head and neck, highlight the importance of a prompt, thorough examination and accurate diagnosis.

While most headache and facial pain disorders are chronic conditions without a cure, prompt diagnosis and effective treatment can significantly reduce pain attacks and improve a person’s overall quality of life.

In managing headaches and facial pain, we take a holistic approach to your care, considering all aspects of overall medical history and daily living. Individualized treatment plans will consider important factors like lifestyle, sleep, exercise and diet to improve patient outcomes.

Treatment.

Key treatment modalities for headache and facial pain can include prescription medications, nutritional supplements, infusion therapy, Botox injections and blocks of specific nerve groups.
